Melvin “Mel” Reese Cox, 71, of Clanton, passed away July 7.

He was born on July 24, 1942, in Gallatin, Tenn., the son of the late William “Doc” Cox and the late Gladys Mae Gross Cox.

He was a window salesman.

Surviving are his wife, Peggy Cox of Clanton; son, Stan Cox; daughters, Tina Saiz, Sherrie Howell; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

Friends will be received from 10:30-11 a.m. July 9 at Cane Creek Baptist Church.

Services will be July 9 at 11 a.m. at Cane Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Cleckler officiating.

Interment will follow in Cane Creek Baptist Cemetery in Clanton.
