Dalene Williamson Smith Sumner

Dalene Williamson Smith Sumner, a resident of Montgomery, passed away Dec. 31 at 12 p.m.

She worked as a cosmetologist/cashier, and after retirement she was an active advocate in support of former Prisoners of War and their spouses.

Sumner was the daughter of the late George and Elizabeth Ellison Williamson. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Adolph Smith, who was killed in combat during World War II; her second husband, Robert Wilson (Bob) Sumner; sister, Ruth Gore and brothers, J.C. and R.W. Williamson.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Sue Beth Sizemore of Montgomery; daughter, Elizabeth Anne George (Jeff) of McCalla; son, William Robert Sumner (Bobby) of Birmingham; grandchildren, Todd and Jason Sizemore (Lesley) and Adrian Arrington (Steve); great-grandsons, Scott Sizemore, Jace Sizemore and Grey Arrington and brother, John D. Williamson of Birchwood, Tenn.

Graveside services will be held Jan. 4 at 2 p.m. at Martin Memorial Cemetery with Judge Bobby Martin and the Rev. Tony Smitherman officiating.

Sumner was a member of Eastdale Baptist Church of Montgomery for many years.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association.
