Mountain Springs Church

Services started with Bro. Kenneth Moates leading the church in the following hymns: “Glory to His Name,” “Just a Little Talk With Jesus,” “I’d Rather Be an Old Time Christian” and “I Have Somebody With Me.”

Bro. Roger Cleckler gave a devotion from Ezekiel 13:5: We can pray and ask God to put a hedge around us so that the devil will not be able to reach us.

After Sunday school, Bro. Kenneth led the church in the hymn “I Would Not Be Denied” and Bro. Roger Cleckler sang “That’s God.”

Bro. Don preached from Numbers 32:1-5: We need to be on the right side with God to receive his blessings. If you don’t surrender fully to the Lord, the flesh will pull you to the wrong side. Until we get our hearts right and get filled with the Holy Spirit, we will never see God’s glory.

Sunday night’s service was our end-of-the-month singing. We are very thankful for the talent God has placed in our church, and everyone who sang did a wonderful job.

Don’t forget our services are Sundays at 9:45 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. and Wednesdays at 7 p.m.

Samaria Baptist Church

Bro. Charles’ message was titled “The Blessings of Redemption.” We enjoyed special music by Jeannie Mims, who sang “The Longer I Serve Him.”

Our ladies gave a bridal shower on Sunday afternoon for Suzanne Kee, and did a wonderful job.

Prayer concerns today are for Curtis McCary, Chris Baker and Chris Driskell.

Next Sunday, we will have a baptismal service for three candidates: Josh Parker, Hayley Milford and James Mash. Our guest minister for the baptism will be Shane Wyatt.

We know that God is the source of eternal life. He convicts us of our sin and gives abundant life. God draws us to himself and provides the visitation of the Holy Spirit to bring conviction to our hearts of sin. We learn how to come to Christ, we hear the Word of God preached, and by the witness of others who have been born again, we are drawn to awareness of our need for Christ. God’s Word was written for our instruction, and it is just as real today as it was when it was penned. Nothing has changed about the grace of a loving God.

We should have attitudes of perseverance and keep on going when times are tough. If we want a closer walk with Christ, we must continue by the encouragement of eternal life. He answers prayer today, just as he did long ago. We should never give up on his ability or willingness to answer our prayers and meet our needs. As we read in God’s word, he will never leave us nor forsake us. He walks with us each and every day, and as long as we exhibit our faith, he will always be on our side. He goes before, after and with us in every endeavor if we invite him to lead us.

Trust in Christ Jesus today; nothing is impossible with Almighty God. Remember, when facing difficult situations with family, friends or strangers: what if he didn’t forgive us our transgressions? We are accountable to forgive others who offend us. May God shine on your life this week.

Remember, on Thursday, children will be out and about for Halloween, so drive safely. God bless you.
