Jimmy Dale Varden

Jimmy Dale Varden, 69, of Elberta, and formerly of Clanton, passed away on Dec. 19 at Baldwin Regional Medical Center in Foley. He was born in Chilton County on March 9, 1944, the son of the late James Varden and the late Odell Varden Heflin.

He was retired from Vulcan Materials as a core driller after 33 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Varden of Foley; son, Tim Varden of Clanton; son, James “Bo” (Jody) Varden of Magnolia Springs; daughter, Tonia “Candy” Connell of Elberta; son, Ronnie Posey (Kim) of Elberta; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Johnny Varden of Clanton; brother, Greg Varden of Jemison and sister, Debra Minor of Clanton.

He is preceded in death by his son, Quinton Shawn Varden; father, James Varden and mother, Odell Varden Heflin.

Visitation was held Dec. 22 from 5-8 p.m. at Ellison-Cleckler Funeral Home.

Funeral services were held Dec. 23 at 2 p.m. from the Memorial Chapel of Ellison-Cleckler Funeral Home with the Rev. J. Aaron Ellison officiating.

Burial followed in the Mineral Springs Baptist Cemetery in Clanton.
