One of Chilton County’s well-known artists is on the cusp of a new adventure.

Sarah Jackson recently received and accepted a position with the Southern Cultural Arts Foundation.

Starting in January, Jackson will serve as the organization’s ambassador director.

While having lunch with Dave Bise, executive director and a founding member of SCAF, Jackson said Bise, on the behalf of the foundation, offered her the job.

“As I help the SCAF create my position, I know I will be responsible for educating and inspiring people across the state as they learn about the many things the SCA Foundation can do for the arts,” Jackson said. “I will begin the process of finding ambassadors for the arts in several communities to act as the eyes and ears of those communities. I will begin conversations about what the cultural needs are in an area and how we can help bring those dreams and visions to life.”

With its slogan “Art for all … All for the arts,” the mission of SCAF is to “advocate, promote and provide resources to qualified individual artists, art organizations and art patrons to ensure the development and sustainability of arts programs for communities, schools, clubs, businesses, cities and more.”

“I am the ambassador director, which means I get to meet the most amazing people,” Jackson said. “I visit communities and talk to artists, art councils, art associations and more. Even communities where an arts group is already established can further benefit from this partnership. We promote them on a state level and much more.”

Jackson said she is already working on ideas for her position with SCAF and hopes to include the Chilton County Arts Council and Chilton County Chamber of Commerce in her efforts to boost local arts and artists.
