The Jemison City Council voted during a brief meeting Monday to adjust the water bills for Ted Young, Christy Hilyer and Delois Morrow according to city ordinance.

The only other vote taken at the meeting was to approve a 50 cent 90 day pay increase for Robert Merritt.

Jemison Mayor Eddie Reed said the pay increase is part of city policy and after a 90-day period, the employee will have an evaluation for pay increase approval.

“He does a wonderful job for our city,” Reed said referring to Merritt.

The council will only hold one meeting in December due to the Christmas holiday. The next regularly scheduled council meeting will be Dec. 2 at 6 p.m.

Councilman Rex Bittle reminded everyone about the Christmas activities planned for the city including a Christmas concert by the Jemison High School Blue Regiment Band Dec. 5 immediately following the Christmas tree lighting ceremony at Jemison City Hall.
