The Rev. Alvin M. Porter, 80, of Jemison, passed away Nov. 17.

He was born on July 17, 1933, in Chilton County, the son of the late Albert Porter and the late Mildred Keith Porter.

He was a minister.

Surviving are his wife, Hal Faye Porter of Jemison; son, Alvin Wayne Porter of Birmingham.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Mildred Porter.

The family wishes to thank to Pam Price and Southern Care Hospice for their support.

Porter was a minister for 42 years at nine different churches.

Friends were received from 5-8 p.m. Nov. 18 at Martin Funeral Home.

Services will be held Nov. 19 at 2 p.m. at Pates Baptist Chapel with the Rev. Charles Christmas and the Rev. Gary Jones officiating.

Interment will follow in Midway Memorial Gardens in Jemison.
