John Alton Dennis, 69, of Verbena, passed away on Nov. 1 at his residence.

He was born on April 4, 1944, in Mobile, the son of the late Daniel Atwood Dennis and the late Annie Mae Webb Dennis.

He was a former supply clerk for the State of Alabama Department of Human Services.

He also honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict from 1964-1967.

He is survived by his sister, Roby Flowers of Deatsville; aunt, Norene Weaver and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held Nov. 5 at 11 a.m. from the Memorial Chapel of Ellison-Cleckler Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Newman officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the chapel service.

A graveside service with military honors will follow at 1:15 p.m. in the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Beacon of Hope Church of God in Montgomery.
