Clanton Police makes counterfeiting bust

Clanton Police made an arrest this week as the culmination of a lengthy investigation into counterfeiting.
Terron Corey Mims, 25, of Clanton was arrested Wednesday after a short pursuit, according to information provided by Clanton Police Department.

CPD investigated several counterfeiting cases in the city in recent weeks. Detectives were eventually able to develop a suspect and track Mims to a residence off County Road 461, east of Clanton, where he had been living.
CPD detectives, with assistance from the Secret Service, obtained a search warrant for the residence.
“During the search, detectives located the printer used, several computers, clippings from the bills, 52 printed counterfeit bills and other tools used in the printing process,” Clanton Police Capt. David Clackley said. “Of the 13 bills currently being worked by detectives, seven have been proven to have been printed by the suspect.”
Mims was charged with multiple counts of possession of forged instruments. Additional charges could be forthcoming.
No bond has been set.
