Billie Gene Mims, 79, of Clanton, passed away on Sept. 6 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster.

He was born on Monday, July 9, 1934 in Chilton County, the son of the late Rollis Mims and the late Pearlie Mims.

He was a Millright.

Surviving are his wife, Marie Mims of Clanton; daughter, Marisa Yates (Dave) of Clanton; son, Matt Mims (Candi); three sisters, Jolene Cleckler of Clanton, Kathlene Reisner of Clanton and Geraldean Harris of Clanton; five grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Friends were received from 5-8 p.m. on Sept. 8 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.

Services were held on Sept. 9 at 2 p.m. at Oak Grove Church of God with the Rev. Wendell Kelley and the Rev. Jason Kelley officiating.

Interment followed in Oak Grove Church of God cemetery in Clanton.
