Rebels fall to Tarrant in first region game

The Thorsby Rebels (1–1) endured a heartbreaking 50-44 loss against the Tarrant Wildcats (1–1) in both teams’ first region game of the season Sept. 6.
Thorsby senior Jagger Cook scored the Rebels’ first touchdown with 8:09 left in the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Thorsby senior Darius Davis scored a touchdown with 9:26 on the clock, but Tarrant responded with three touchdowns and two 2-point conversions to lead 28-14 at the half.
Thorsby senior Donnie Hoffman scored a touchdown with 6:19 left, followed by another Davis touchdown with 1:54.
Tarrant found the end zone again, leading 42-28 before the end of the third.
Davis earned the Rebels two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter, but even with two 2-point conversions tacked on, the Wildcats were able to squeeze in another touchdown and 2 points to win the game.
Davis had 26 carries for 289 yards and was 2-for-8 in passing for 38 yards.
“This is what we’re going to have to do to get better,” Thorsby coach Billy Jackson told his team after Friday’s game. “On Monday, we’re going to get back to fundamentals.”
Thorsby High School’s 2013 Homecoming Court included Addison Naimon, seventh grade; Rachel Snow, eighth grade; Anna Hilyer, ninth grade; Laken Patterson (queen), 12th grade; Morgan Norwood, 10th grade; and Jade Connell, 11th grade.
Thorsby also celebrated Homecoming at Friday’s game.
Laken Patterson was crowned the 2013 THS Homecoming Queen. Her court included: Addison Naimon, seventh grade; Rachel Snow, eighth grade; Anna Hilyer, ninth grade; Morgan Norwood, 10th grade; and Jade Connell, 11th grade.
