The driver of one of the vehicles involved in a deadly wreck Saturday in Thorsby has been arrested and charged with murder.

Authorities allege Cedric Randall, 27, of Plantersville was intoxicated and caused the wreck that killed Michael Guy Chancellor, 36, of Jemison.

Randall was transported to UAB Hospital after the wreck, which occurred about 11:40 p.m. Feb. 2 on Highway 31 in north Thorsby. Randall was arrested Tuesday upon his release from the hospital, according to Brandon Bates, assistant district attorney for the 19th Judicial Circuit. Randall is being held at Chilton County Jail with no bond set as of Wednesday afternoon.

Chancellor’s wife, 31-year-old Bethanie, and children, 7-year-old Peyton and 1-year-old Lawson, were also hospitalized following the wreck.

Bethanie Chancellor remains in serious condition, and Peyton Chancellor’s injuries were not considered life-threatening. Lawson Chancellor was released from the hospital after being evaluated.

“There are going to be other charges coming down depending on the condition of Ms. Chancellor,” Bates said.

An ongoing investigation is being conducted by Alabama State Troopers.
