Maureen Jones Deavers, age 74 of the Union Grove community in Jemison, passed away on Nov. 19, 2012, at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster.

She was born in Chilton County on Sept. 4, 1938, the daughter of the late Nolon Jones and the late Auline Burnett Jones.

She was a former machine operator.

She is survived by: daughter, Betty Sue Payton of Jemison; grandchild, Chris (Chasity) Chapman of Thorsby; grandchild, Jason Raines of Jemison; grandchild, Angela Mims of Jemison; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Nola Jean Ludolf of Oak Grove; and sister, Myrtlene Jones of Marion.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lester Deavers, and a son, Richard Wayne Moon.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, Nov. 20, from 6–8 p.m. at Ellison-Cleckler Funeral Home.

Graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 21, at 11 a.m. from the Union Grove Community Cemetery in Jemison with the Rev. Johnny Bowman officiating.
