Two out of four incumbents were re-elected to the Chilton County Board of Education on Tuesday, while new candidates were elected to fill the remaining five seats.

Incumbents Joe Mims and Curtis Smith will join Lori Reynolds Patterson, Pam Plier Price, Jim Shannon, Keith Moore and Linda Hand on the board.

Mims received 11,099 votes. Since 2000, he has served 12 years on the board, with six years as vice president and two years as president.

Smith received 12,136 votes. Since 2000, he has served 12 years on the board.

Patterson was the top vote-getter with 17,331 votes. Price was next with 13,417 votes, followed by Shannon with 12,505 votes, Smith with 12,136 votes, Moore with 11,505 votes, Hand with 11,236 votes and Mims with 11,099 votes.

Incumbents Howard Daugherty and Ann Thomas and candidate Tommy Headley were defeated.

Daugherty, who served on the board from 2006-2012, received 6,436 votes.

Thomas, who served on the board from 2004-2012, received 10,917 votes.

Headley received 5,171 votes.

These numbers do not include provisional ballots, which could influence the outcome of the race.

Incumbent board members not seeking re-election were: Ann Glasscock, 18 years of service; George Walker, six years of service; and Chris Davis, six years of service.
