Harvey N. Clapp, chairman of the board of Peachtree Bank, announced his retirement effective on Oct. 31 and the election of Darren Wilson as the new president of Peachtree Bank.

“For many years, we have been fortunate to have great senior management in my brother Clem, Ronnie Mitchell, Wanda Lockhart and Darren Wilson,” Clapp said. “We feel that electing Darren as president assures the long-term continuity of leadership at the bank. Darren has a strong background in lending and compliance. Not only that, he is one of the most competent and likable people I know.”

Darren has been with Peachtree Bank for more than 15 years.

He is a graduate of the University of Montevallo and the Alabama Banking School at the University of South Alabama in Mobile.

He is married to the former Julie Cost, and they have a 5-year-old son, Nate.

Clapp has worked for Peachtree Bank for 39 years and will continue to serve as the chairman of the board.

“What has meant most to me has been all of those people that I have become so close to like customers, professionals such as attorneys and CPAs, vendors and, of course, other bankers,” Clapp said. “To be able to do business with those you know and trust for so long has been wonderful. Our bank is a true community bank and has a vested interest in the success of our neighbors and friends here in central Alabama. I am confident that Darren and the management team at Peachtree Bank will ensure that this philosophy and commitment will continue for many years.”
