Charles Monroe Fox

Charles Monroe Fox, 80, of Maylene and formerly of Chilton County, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012.

He served as a paratrooper in the Army National Guard before his retirement with 20 years of military service. At various times, Charles was a member and active in the music ministries of Brantleyville (New Hope) Church of God, Alabaster Church of God, Calvary’s Hill in Jemison and Lighthouse of Praise in Alabaster.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Newton Fox and Ella Miram Raulinson Fox; son, Charles Allen Fox; brothers, George Fox and Howard Fox; and sister, Annie Lee Carrol King. Survivors include Charles’ wife of almost 61 years, Lois Anita Cox Fox; son, Robert “Wayne” Fox (Gail); daughter, Brenda Fox Fenley (Clark); grandchildren, Anthony, Kyle, Jeremy (Mallorie), DeWayne (Carrie), Shelley (Russ), Kelley (Chad), Matthew (Alisha), Brent (Brittany) and Bradley; great-grandchildren, Kayla, Aimiee, Jacob, Carl, Hannah, Katlyn, Austin, Ethan, Caleb, Dixie, Draven, Madilyn and Emma; sister, Frances Foshee; twin brothers, Jessie M. Fox (Nelda) and James L. Fox (Arlis); and a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9 at Ridout’s Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham. A Chapel Celebration of Charles’ Life will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 10 at Ridout’s Southern Heritage in Pelham. Burial will be at Southern Heritage Cemetery in Pelham. Bro. Louie Fincher and Bro. Bobby MacFarland will officiate. Memorial gifts may be made to any church of your choice, or to the American Cancer Society.
