Ruby Virginia Jones, 83, of Verbena died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster.

She was born on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 1928, in Chilton County, daughter of the late Barney Burdette and the late Maggie Jones Burdette.

She was a homemaker.

Surviving are her daughter, Patricia A. Jones; son, Larry (Sheila) Jones Jr.; grandchildren, Wendy (Jeremy) Pierce, Kim (Jonathan) Bowen and Nick Jones; great-grandchildren, Macey and Michael Pierce, and Kaiden Bowen; and brother, Buel “Cotton” (Minnie Mae) Burdette.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Barney and Maggie Burdette; husband, L.E. “Gene” Jones Sr.; sister, Mary Jones; sister, Flora Harris; brother, Duel “Red” Burdette; and brother, Cleveland Burdette.

Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m., Monday, Aug. 6 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.

Services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 7 at 11 a.m. at Corintth Baptist Church with the Rev. Olen Hutchins Jr. and the Rev. Bert Tippett officiating.

Interment will follow in Corinth Baptist Cemetery in Verbena.
