Thorsby increases court costs

The Thorsby Town Council on Monday voted to increase municipal court costs for those convicted of crimes.

Those convicted of a traffic violation can expect to pay $44.50 in addition to the costs already in place. Non-traffic violations will cost an extra $44.

The fees would only be incurred by those convicted in municipal court.

The council also voted to change its insurance plan.

If the town had remained under its current plan, the monthly rate would have increased. In order to avoid an increased monthly rate—which many employees opposed—the town will use a new plan that will include a higher co-pay.
