Howard Kaye Smith, 73, of Maplesville died Saturday, June 30, 2012.

He was born on Friday, June 16, 1939, in Tuscaloosa, son of the late Clarence E. Smith and the late Carrie Lee Smith.

He was a machine operator.

Surviving are his two sons, Randall K. Smith of Maplesville and Keith (Donna) Smith of Maplesville; daughter, Pam (Jerry) Frith of Maplesville; brother, Elbert Smith of Jemison; four granddaughters, Dana (Daniel) Moore of Tuscaloosa, Jennifer (Taylor) Barker of Plantersville, Allison Smith of Maplesville and Rebecca Smith of Jemison; three grandsons, Derrick K. (Heather) Smith of Thorsby, Howard Kyle Smith of Maplesville and Seth Smith of Maplesville; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred M. Smith; sister, Robin Nell Smith; sister, Betty Jo Smith; and sister, Mildred Faye Stevens.

Friends were received from 6-8 p.m., Sunday, July 1 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.

Services were held Monday, July 2 at 11 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kirk Smith officiating.

Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Maplesville.
