One of the Peach Festival’s tastier traditions is now in its 25th year.

The American Legion Post 6 sponsors the barbecue sale and uses proceeds to benefit causes it supports like Relay For Life as well as Boys and Girls State.

Plates are $9 and will include either barbecue pork or chicken, baked beans, coleslaw, bread and a drink.

Volunteers will start cooking around 5:30 a.m., but most of the barbecue gets sold around the Peach Auction at Jack Hayes Field. The barbecue pavilion is right next to the baseball field.

In past years, the American Legion has prepared for food for as many as 500 people.

Plates should be picked up between 10 a.m. and noon, as the barbecue wraps up after the Peach Auction ends.

Tickets can be bought that morning or ordered is advance by contacting Jerry Grooms at 312-1024 or Lally Bates at 755-1323.
