Chilton County’s baseball team fought off elimination Friday with a 6-2, nine-inning win over Brookwood.

The Tigers found themselves behind the 8-ball after losing to Brookwood, 6-2, in Game 1 of the best-of three playoff series. CCHS defeated their area foe all three times they played during the regular season.

The two teams will play the final game of the series at noon on Saturday at Clanton’s Jack Hayes Field.

Chilton led 2-0 in the sixth inning of Game behind a strong start from pitcher Trevor Thomas.

But Brookwood tied the game late and sent it into extra innings. CCHS won with four runs in the top of the ninth inning.

The winner of the series will play the winner of the Briarwood-Hueytown series in the third round of the Class 5A state playoffs.
