Dear Editor,

Many people in Chilton and surrounding areas enjoy the public parks in Clanton. Whether it’s the ball fields, walks, squirrels playing and running around, or fellowship, there is much to be enjoyed in these public parks, and the entertainment is free!

I want our Clanton city leaders and employees to know their efforts and work for people in Chilton and surrounding areas is greatly appreciated by most people, including myself! However, there are a few people who don’t seem to appreciate what we have or, maybe, they don’t have respect for other people or respect for authority or, maybe, we need to put up bigger signs or instant-play, pre-recorded messages at the entrance of Goose Pond Park for those who can’t see or can’t read the sign at the entrance. The sign displays the message, “No Dogs, No Bicycles, No Wheels Allowed.” What part of that message is not understandable?

For people who have no respect for authority, just know it is your paid tax dollars that pays the authorities to place restrictions where needed and pays authorities to enforce the placed restrictions, and you are being disrespectful to yourself when you choose to disobey or ignore the restrictions.

For those who have no respect or concern for other people, know this: The people who crucified Jesus were people who needed him and people he came to help. The people you have no respect or concern for are the ones you need to help you maintain this county and the things you enjoy in this county. You can’t build and maintain a great place of enjoyable life alone. If you are in Chilton County without respect and concern for authority and people you are in the wrong place!
