Bobby Gene Jenkins, age 81, of Jemison, passed away April 12, 2012, with his children at his side.

He retired from University of Montevallo. He attended Jemison First Baptist Church. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Effie Jenkins; brothers, J.W. Jenkins, Hershel Jenkins, Herman Jenkins, Douglas Jenkins and Jimmy Jenkins; and sister, Gladys Owens.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Martha Juanita Green Jenkins; children, Kerry and Carol Jenkins of Jemison, Melinda and David Thomas of Calera, Kathy Jenkins of Calera, and Jennifer Holmberg of Calera; sisters-in-law, Florence Jenkins of Helena and Evelyn Jenkins of Montevallo; grandchildren, Brent Thomas, Michael Thomas, Justin Thomas, Casey Jenkins and Connor Holmberg.

Visitation was held Sunday, April 15, 2012, from 6-8 p.m. at Rockco Funeral Home Montevallo. Funeral services were held Monday, April 16, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Rockco Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gene Hitchcock and the Rev. Rex Kent officiating. Interment followed at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Hoover.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to American Heart Association.
