The Chilton County Grand Jury issued 175 indictments during its February session and delivered have the following report to Circuit Judge Sibley Reynolds:

“To the honorable Judge Sibley G. Reynolds, circuit judge:

After having been empanelled, we proceeded to investigate all matters that came before us, and we herewith submit the following report:

During our deliberations, we investigated 260 cases and we are returning 175 true bills.

All of these officers were well prepared and professional, and we appreciate the dedication that these agents and officers show in keeping our community safe. Their preparation and professionalism greatly assists the grand jury process.

We toured the Chilton County Jail and found it to be in good working order. We toured the Chilton County Courthouse and are concerned with the lack of available work space. We would like to encourage the Chilton County Commission to examine the possibility of constructing a new courthouse. We would also like to note the dismal condition of both the men’s and women’s public restroom facilities inside of the courthouse. While clean, the physical condition of the toilets, sinks, faucets and stall doors is deplorable.

We reviewed the Examiner’s of Public Accounts audits on the Chilton County Hospital Board, the Office of Tax Collector, the Office of Tax Assessor, the Juvenile Court Services Fund and the Chilton County Board of Education. We found no indictable offenses.

Now having complied with your honor’s instructions to the best of our ability, we request that we be recessed until such time as it may be necessary to have us convene again.
