Marie Lucas, age 81 of Montevallo, passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2012, at her home.

She was a longtime member of the Community Baptist Church in Brierfield.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Leon Carl Melton and Ula Mae Melton; husband, Thomas Pat “Dude” Lucas; a daughter; two brothers; three sisters; and a grandson.

Her surviving relatives include a son, Gary Lucas (Beverly); daughters, Virginia Arthur (Delbert), Darlene Smitherman (Kenny), Patricia Boyd (Kenneth) and Donna Duncan; sisters, Jeanette Deason, Barbara Barnwell and Rebecca McDaniels; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Cannon; 19 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; and also numerous nieces and nephews.

Her funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 5 in the Rockco Funeral Home Chapel with viewing two hours prior to her services. Burial will follow in the Reynolds Cemetery in Montevallo.
