David Michael Smith, 58, of Shelby died Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster.

He was born on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 1953, in Chilton County, son of the late Marvin Smith and the late Vassie Ray Smith.

He was a machinist. He was a loving daddy, husband, brother and PaPaw.

Surviving are his wife, Donna Smith of Shelby; son, Dash (Misty) Smith of Shelby; two daughters, Dana (Butch) (Jeff Gothard) Smith of Shelby, and Christy Jones Pate of Jemison; sister-in-Law, Ann (Mike) Logan of Shelby; grandchildren, Katie Gothard, Janna and Carley Pate, Marisa Jones; three sisters, Daphine Varden, Diane Melton, Deloris Stowe; nieces and nephews, Chris Varden, Little Chris Varden, Todd Varden, Kaley Varden, Kelly Shipiro, Samantha and Max Shipiro, Ann Jowell, Andy, Katie Mae, T.J. Jewel, Linda Melton, Jay Stowe, Veronica and Jonathan Gomez, Melody and Nick Stowe, Jason Logan, Wade Logan and Jennifer Logan.

Graveside services will be held at noon on Friday, Feb. 10 at Mars Hill Baptist Cemetery.
