Jerry Leon Dees Sr., 72, of Maplesville, passed away Jan. 18, 2012, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham.

He was born in Mississippi on Oct. 6, 1939, the son of the late John Wesley Dees and the late Lillie Ruth Hooks Dees.

Mr. Dees was a department manager at the Clanton Walmart.

He is survived by: daughter, Melissa Dees Rosser of Newnan, Ga.; daughter, Katherine Naomi Rodriguez of Plano, Texas; daughter, Lannice Renee Peek of Marbury; son, Jerry Leon Dees Jr. of Maplesville; brother, Tom Dees of Alabaster; brother, Crawford Dees of Hueytown; brother, Mitchell Dees of Maplesville; brother, Michael Dees of Crestview, Fla.; sister, Mary Lou Paige of Anniston;  sister, Deborah Lenoir of Maplesville; and nine grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, from 5-8 p.m. at Ellison-Mims Funeral Home in Clanton.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 22, 2012, at 2 p.m. from Hillcrest Baptist Church with the Rev. Vaughn Woods officiating. Burial will follow in the Vermont Holiness Church Cemetery in Maplesville.
