Tigers grapplers fall at Shelby County

The Shelby County High School wrestling team edged Chilton County High School, 54-24, in a match on Thursday.
Five Wildcats and three Tigers won their individual matches.
The win marked Shelby County’s second match victory this week.
Noah Dorough of Shelby County won his 106-pound match by forfeit. Aaron Stagner of Shelby County also won the 113-pound match by forfeit.
Patrick Kurdziel of Chilton County pinned A.J. Cole of Shelby County in the 120-pound match. Tyler Carter of Shelby County topped Caleb Smith of Chilton County in the 126-pound match.
Chilton County’s Paul Shearon pinned Killian Berens of Shelby County in the 132-pound match.
Nick Horton of Shelby County won his 138-pound match by forfeit. Austin Poe of Shelby County pinned Jaylon Landret in the 145-pound match.
Shelby County wrestler Chase Weeks downed Clay Bailey in the 152-pound match. Senior Chris Upton from the Wildcats pinned Hunter Edward in the 160-pound match.
“They fought hard,” said Chilton County assistant coach Ronald Smith. “We’re young, and we have no seniors. Shelby County did a great job. “
Luke Miller of Shelby County won his 170-pound match by forfeit. Shelby County s sophomore Clint Davis brought down his Chilton county opponent Andrew King in the 195-pound match.
The Tigers Justyn Jackson won his individual match by forfeit. Spencer Watley of Chilton County came out on top of Shelby County s Dillon Grantham in the 285-pound match.
Chilton County will compete in a duals meet at Benjamin Russell High School on Saturday.
