Maplesville’s Christmas parade will depart from Maplesville High School on Sunday, Nov. 27 at 5 p.m.

Floats may begin lining up at 3:30 p.m. and will be judged at 4:15 p.m.

Prizes are $100 for first place, $75 for second place and $50 for third place.

The Maplesville Red Devils football team will serve as grand marshals for the parade.

Another holiday event the town is holding is Toys For Kids, a program that helps provide Christmas gifts for children.

On Saturday, Nov. 19, the youth of Maplesville Baptist Church organized a roadblock to collect donations for Toys For Kids. They raised $1,023.40.

Youth from Maplesville First Baptist Church recently raised more than $1,000 for the town's Toys for Kids drive during a roadblock.

“It’s been numerous years that they’ve done that for us,” Town Clerk Sheila Haigler said. “It’s been a big help.”

The town hall is accepting Toys For Kids applications on Wednesdays only. The deadline for submitting an application is Nov. 30.

Donations of new toys and clothing may be dropped off at the town hall, and financial donations may be mailed to P.O. Box 9, Maplesville, 36750.

“Money is still coming in,” Haigler said. “Things seem to be going at a steady pace.”

All financial donations will be used to purchase gifts for Toys For Kids recipients on Dec. 7.
