Verna Lou Smith, 80, of Lawley died Monday, Oct. 24, 2011.

She was born Thursday, April 2, 1931, in Bibb County, daughter of the late Jasper Carson Legrone and the late Odyce Terry Legrone.

She was an inspector.

Surviving are her husband, M.G. Smith of Lawley; three sons, Michael (Teresa) Smith of Crestview, Fla., Larry (Rhonda) Smith of Blountsville and Steve (Mary) Smith of Toccoa, Ga.; brother, J.C. (Kitty) Legrone of Leeds; sister, Brenda (George) Olvey of Hayden; grandchildren, Brian and Jason Smith, Melissa Alldritt, Larry Joseph Smith and James Miller; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 26 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.

Services will be held Thursday, Oct. 27 at 11 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bobby McGowan officiating.

Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Jemison.
