Billie Baker Burnett, age 85, passed peacefully from this life on July 30, 2011, at her home in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Billie will be remembered by the way that she cherished her family with all her heart, treasured many lifelong friendships, and brought humor and her unique style to everything she pursued in life.
Billie was a 40-year resident of Clanton, a member of First United Methodist Church, and the wife of the late Joe G. Burnett, an attorney in the law firm Speaks & Burnett.
Preceding Billie in death were her parents, Charlie W. Baker and Willie Perrin Baker of Alabaster; siblings, Charles N. Baker (Billie), Helen M. Baker, Jim Baker and Johnny Baker of Alabaster and Ellis C. Baker (Lilly) of Knoxville, Tenn.
Billie is survived by two daughters, Susan Merrell Niendorf (Jay) of Cape Girardeau, Mo. and Katie Merrell Rohlman (Greg) of Allen, Texas; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Niendorf Sichi (Anthony) of Chicago, Andrew Niendorf (Melissa) of Nashville, Kelli Rohlman of Memphis and Lance Rohlman of Allen, Texas; two great grandchildren, Sara Niendorf and Claire Sichi; two sisters, Mary Baker Glasgow (Gene) of Alabaster and Bobbye Baker Headley (Dean) of Clanton; along with many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family will greet visitors at Charter Funeral Home in Calera on Thursday, Aug. 4, from 6-8 p.m. with graveside service and interment to follow on Friday, Aug. 5 at noon at Elliotsville Cemetery in Alabaster. She will lie in sweet peace forever with dear and departed family in her much-loved home of Alabama.
