Ruby M. Penton, 88, of Clanton died Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at Hatley Health Care in Clanton.

She was born Saturday, Aug. 16, 1922, in Chilton County, daughter of the late Ben Higgins and the late Minnie Maddox Higgins.

She was an art teacher.

Surviving are her two daughters, June Wyatt of Clanton and Pat Wesson of Clanton; son, Wayne Penton of Pensacola, Fla.; sister, Imogene Turner of Clanton; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Penton.

Friends will be received from 10-11 a.m., Saturday, June 18 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.

Services will be held Saturday, June 18 at 11 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rick Colburn officiating.

Interment will follow in Poplar Springs Baptist Cemetery.
