Joe Murphy, director of the Chilton County Humane Society, was presented with the Administrator of the Year Award at the 2011 Alabama Animal Control Association & Alabama Humane Federation Annual Conference.

“The award is for the society,” said Murphy. “We’ve really turned things around here, and it’s nice to receive some recognition. I would like to reiterate that in my field, no one person can be successful without considerable help. It truly is a team effort.”

The three-day conference was held March 30 through April 1 and was hosted by the city of Hoover. Speakers from all over the country attended the conference, and numerous awards for various achievements were presented.

“This award was not just for me but also for my hardworking staff and resourceful board of directors,” Murphy said. “I am very grateful to have them by my side. We’re headed in the right direction.”
