James Larry McCord, age 74, a resident of Slapout, went to be with his Lord Wednesday, April 13, 2011.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 17 at 2 p.m. at Gassett Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Teal officiating. Burial will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery with Gassett Funeral Home of Wetumpka directing.
Mr. McCord is survived by his wife, Ramona McCord; sons, Jimmy (Brenda) McCord, Joel McCord and the late Chrissy McCord; daughters, Lila (Mike) Barrett, Lisa (Roger) Carr, grandchildren, Dusty (Niki) Barrett, Cheyanne Barrett, Cody (Kelsey) Lanier, Courtney Lanier, Lillian Faith, Hannah Grace and Annlowery Hope McCord, Alex, Caleb and Kyle McCord and Emma Grace Campbell; and great-grandchild, Conner James Lanier.
Mr. McCord was a lifetime farmer and dedicated member and chief of the Holtville/Slapout Fire and Rescue for more than 20 years.
A special thanks to Southern Care Hospice and staff, and a special thanks to Tina and Ethel.
Active pallbearers will be Dusty Barrett, Cody Lanier, Doug, Mike, Rickey and Danny McCord, Mike Evans and Chad Welch. Honorary pallbearers will be the Holtville/Slapout Fire and Rescue members.
Visitation will be held Saturday, April 16 from 6-8 p.m. at Gassett Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to Ebenezer Bible Church or The Children’s Harbor.
