Bernice M. House was the first daughter born to the late Esley and Alice Johnson on Feb. 21, 1920, in Jemison.

Bernice M. House peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, after a short illness. She was 90 years old.

Bernice was a longtime resident of Wilmington, Del. She received her early education in Jemison and secondary education was received at Tuskegee Institute and Monroe, La.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 21 at New Hope Baptist Church, 1230 N. Heald St., Wilmington, with viewing beginning at 8:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bernice may be made to the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE  19963 or House of Pride, 105 S. New St., Dover, DE  19904.
