Chilton County High School senior basketball player Quincy Underwood shoots for two points against Briarwood in the last home game for CCHS seniors. Underwood scored nine points, but the Tigers lost, 73-56.

Chilton County’s girls basketball team looked to close out the year on a high note with a win on Senior Night, but the team got behind early and never really got back in the game.

Briarwood won, 63-20, in CCHS’s last home game of the season.

Briarwood opened the game on a 6-0 run and never looked back, outscoring the Lady Tigers 31-10 in the first half.

The second half proved to be more of the same as the Lions went on a 17-2 run in the third quarter.

Chilton County rallied to score eight points in the fourth but was too far behind to mount any kind of comeback.

Renee Lewis and Audrey Lewis led the Tigers in scoring with six points each.

CCHS boys’ solid fourth not enough

Like their girls counterparts, Chilton County’s boys team fell behind early, but this set of Tigers rallied in fourth quarter before falling, 73-36.

Briarwood opened the game on a 15-4 run, executing the offense and grabbing most of the rebounds and loose balls.

The visiting Lions led 22-8 after one period, 48-17 at halftime and 62-35 after three periods.

But CCHS outscored the visitors 21-11 in the fourth period to make the final score respectable.

Grantland Karn led Chilton with 22 points, and Nelson Williams scored 18.
