Maplesville’s girls basketball team controlled the paint on both ends of the floor on Thursday to earn a 50-34 win at Chilton County.

Over the top: Maplesville’s Kiana Andrews, left, passes the basketball over the defense of Chilton County’s Brooke Lewis during Thursday’s game.

MHS post player Ebony Childers scored a game-high 23 points, with most of those coming on strong moves inside the lane, but perhaps as important was how Childers and her teammates controlled the boards.

On the defensive end, the Red Devils (2-14) consistently held their hosts to one shot, while under the other basket snatched up offensive rebounds and put the ball back up.

Keshia Bailey had 15 points for Maplesville, while Renee Lewis (14 points) and Keona DeJarnett (12) paced the Tigers (1-16).
