Both Panthers teams win

Jemison’s girls and boys teams earned wins against Verbena on Thursday.
The JHS girls (4-5, 1-2) won, 43-38, behind 12 points from both Shelby Lopez and Kelsey Mims.
Lopez also had four assists, and Mims also tallied five assists and four rebounds.
Katika Nunn added 13 rebounds and six points.
Marqueska Deramus had 19 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks for Verbena (4-7, 0-2), and Lacey Short chipped in 13 points.
Jemison’s boys (2-5, 1-2) jumped out to a 16-0 lead utilizing a full-court pressure defense and won, 86-59.
Trey Bryant scored 26 points, including 15 points in the first quarter and five 3-pointers.
Bryant also had 10 steals and four assists.
Jesse Taylor had 10 points, Jeremiah Gates grabbed 14 rebounds and Rodell Chisolm had 12 points.
For Verbena (2-7, 0-2), T.J. Ray scored a career-high 37 points.
