A Montgomery man faces charges of robbing Peachtree Bank last week after being caught allegedly holding up another bank in Alexander City.

Kenton Maurice Hall, 30, will be formally charged Wednesday in connection with the Clanton robbery, which happened on Friday.

Hall was arrested Tuesday after allegedly robbing an Aliant Bank in Tallapoosa County. He was captured following a brief car chase and manhunt with tracking dogs and a state helicopter.

Clanton Police Chief Brian Stilwell said his department’s detectives spent much of the weekend following up on leads in other counties. Those leads came to a head Tuesday with the robbery in Alexander City.

“Technology for law enforcement has improved our information sharing so much in the last couple of years,” said Stilwell. “We put our robbery and suspect information out to all the state agencies, so Alex City was aware of our robbery when they apprehended Mr. Hall, and they quickly contacted us.”

Clanton Detective Freddie Mayfield spent much of Tuesday afternoon and evening working with Alexander City detectives, which resulted in the decision to charge Hall in the Chilton County robbery.

“I don’t care who arrested him or where he got arrested. I am glad this man is off the streets,” said Stilwell. “Congratulations to Alex City Police Department. From what I am hearing, they did a fantastic job.”

Hall is currently being held in Tallapoosa County. Stilwell said Clanton Police would arrest Hall again if he were to make bond in Alexander City.

“We will get him when and if he makes a bond in Tallapoosa County or when their criminal charges are done,” Stilwell said.

Peachtree Bank was robbed shortly before 9:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 27, when the suspect entered the bank and demanded money from a teller.

No one was injured in the robbery. The suspect fled on foot to a getaway car left in The Clanton Advertiser’s parking lot, two buildings down from the bank.

Witnesses described the witness and his car to police. Video footage from the bank and other businesses also helped police with their case.
