Clanton City Council approved several subcontractors for its sewer revitalization project during Monday night’s meeting.

The council voted to allow Gulf Coast Underground LLC, South Baldwin Plumbing Inc. and Martin Construction to handle parts of the grant work.

In other business, the council took the following measures:

Had a public hearing and then voted to rezone a lot at 405 First Avenue from office space to residential space. Mayor Billy Joe Driver said the space was changed from R-2 to office a few years back, and now the owners want the property reverted back to what it was originally.

Approved promoting Katrina Carr to the role of assistant municipal court clerk.

Moved to adopt a new police department policy manual. Copies of the manual are in the city clerk’s office in City Hall and at the Clanton Police Department.

Put off, for at least the time being, buying radio ads that would have played during 95.5’s coverage of Chilton County High School’s football games this fall. Council members Greg DeJarnett, who is also principal at CCHS, and Jeff Price said the council supports Chilton County athletics but that more time was needed to understand fully how changes this year will impact how much ad revenue goes back to the school’s booster club.

Discussed a grant project for pedestrian sidewalks at Goosepond Park. The council has received bids on the project, but since the low bidder doesn’t have a state contract license, the council couldn’t accept the bids. The bidder has 30 days to get the license and still be awarded the bid.
