“And thou shalt rejoice before the Lord thy God, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite that is within thy gates and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are among you, in the place which the Lord thy god hath chosen to place his name there. And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in Egypt: and thou shalt observe and do these statutes. Thought for the week: “Faithful Child of God”

“Oh, child of God, look upward, look toward the heavens bright. Whenever you’re discouraged, look to the father of lights. Trouble-filled is this old world; it’s oft so dark and drear, but God is just a prayer away, your every prayer He’ll hear. Set your heart on things above, oh, faithful child of God; let not rumblings of this world be like a darkened cloud. Think on just and honest things, the lovely and the pure; submit your being to the Lord, he’ll comfort and assure.”

Worship service at the Holly Grove Baptist Church in Jemison began with music by the men, chorus of prayer, scripture and songs. The scripture was by Charles Arrington with prayer by Freddy Arrington and Pastor Dukes. Songs sung: “It’s in My Heart To serve,” “Glory Hallelujah,” “We Offer Sacrifice Praise.”The morning message was given by Pastor Dukes. His theme: “Lord What Is It You Would Have Me To Do?” Is it in your heart to serve the Lord? The desire to be used by God? It has to be in your heart to serve, which means doing for other people. Serve even if it’s not popular. Isaiah served Him and gave his testimony of how he found God. Christ was about service; you become the maid and butler to the people you serve. It’s not about your title; God will clean you up to use you—he will “burn sin out.” Can you take the cleansing? The cleansing has to take place. There are four steps in serving God. You must know who God is. He is holy; you must know who he is. Who do you say he is? He is the Christ, the son of the Living God. You can build your Church on that, a vision of who we are—a true picture. Know who you are in Christ, and you have to grow in grace.Benediction by Pastor Dukes.
