Home field was quite an advantage for the Clanton O-zone all-stars.

With the Dixie Youth Baseball District 4 tournament being played on their home field, Clanton defeated Marbury, 15-1 in four innings, to open the double-elimination tournament on Friday.

More games will be played Saturday, Monday and Tuesday.

Clanton is also the site of the AA (7- and 8-year-olds) district tournament and the AAA (9- and 10-year-olds) sub-disrict tournament.

All three tournaments are being played at the same time.

In the O-zone game, Clanton’s Colby Ramsey and Conner McRae led off the game with walks before scoring on Corbin Bice’s double.

A towering two-out, two-run home run by Ramsey in the top of the second inning opened the floodgates.

Dalton Green started on the mound for Clanton and allowed no runs.

Clanton’s teams in the AA and AAA tournaments also played Friday, but those games ended too late to be included in this edition.
