Artists competing in the Roy Wood Peach Festival Art Show are asked to bring their paintings to Peoples Southern Bank in downtown Clanton today by 2 p.m.

The competition gives local artists an opportunity to let their works be seen by their friends and other art enthusiasts throughout the community.

The bank will begin receiving entries at noon today. Entrants are asked to bring their paintings to the bank’s parking lot entrance.

The subject matter of the works will likely pertain to the peach industry, including depictions of blooms, fruit, picking packing and other aspects of peaches.

Artists are allowed to tackle any subject.

The painting must have been painted within the last two years and must not have been entered in the show before. Entries must be original paintings and not copies.

The exhibit will be on display in the Peoples Southern Bank lobby from Wednesday through June 30. Artists must make arrangements to pick up their paintings on June 30.

Anyone in Chilton County is eligible to enter the competition. Artists may submit two works with an entry fee of $5 for each.

Peoples Southern Bank employee and art show planner Betty Cook said the entire community is invited to see the exhibit throughout the week.

She said the paintings will be judged by someone from outside of Chilton County.

Prizes will be awarded the morning of June 30. They include $100 for first place, $75 for second, $50 for third and $25 for fourth. Those awards apply to both the junior and senior divisions.
