Today’s paper first of three Peach editions

Published 6:11 pm Friday, June 18, 2010

The Clanton Advertiser covers peaches a lot, which makes sense considering the crop is what Chilton County is known best for.

From the first blossoms, to the first buds, late season freezes to harvest months and the Peach Fest, it’s a constant, yearly cycle.

But three upcoming issues will focus on the crop, and its accompanying Peach Festival, a little bit more than usual. Today’s issue marks the first of three special sections to help preview and then recap the special event.

Inside today’s paper you will find biographies and photos for the Little and Young Miss Peach contestants. We have also printed pictures of all our Peach Photogenic contestants.

There’s also information about the week’s coming events and a schedule of events as well as stories about the Peach Queens.

In Tuesday’s paper, June 22, we will have our second preview section that will include more stories about the people and programs that make Peach Fest so special.

Then, we recap everything, from parade winners to how much the first-place basket is bought for at the Peach Auction, from art show winners to more about the Peach Queens in our recap edition, which prints on Tuesday, June 29.

Between the special editions, we will also have stories daily about the different events going on. Tuesday’s paper will have stories and photos from the Weekend’s Peach run, cook-off and fishing tournament as well as the first two Peach pageants. One thing to look for is the announcement of the Peach Photogenic winners, will be announced Wednesday, June 23.

We will also update our Web site, clantonadvertiser.com, throughout the day with updates. Hundreds of photos will be loaded to spotted.clantonadvertiser.com.

We look forward to covering Peach Fest and hope to see you there.
