Chilton County beat Jemison 10-1 in four innings Friday during the Peach Classic summer tournament at Clanton’s Jack Hayes Field.

Chilton County bats were on fire throughout the game, with the home team jumping out to a 5-1 by the end of the second inning.

A four-run third inning put the game out of contention.

Jemison had its chances early on, stranding three on base in the top of the third.

The CCHS and Jemison game kicked off the three-day tournament, which will include 18 games between Thursday morning and Friday evening.

Other than CCHS and Jemison, teams participating in the Peach Classic will be Maplesville, Thorsby, Benjamin Russell, Spain Park, Wetumpka, Holtville, Prattville, Elmore County, Bibb County, Beauregard and Chelsea.

Admission will be $5 for one day, or fans will be able to purchase a three-day pass for $10.

Money raised will go toward an indoor hitting facility Shannon said he is trying to get built before next season.

A schedule for Friday and Saturday follows. Games will go seven innings or 1:45 minutes, whichever one comes first.
