Man arrested following Memorial Day weekend shooting

Clanton Police have arrested one suspect in connection with a Memorial Day weekend shooting in West End.

Andrew David May, 23, of Opelika turned himself in to Lt. Keith Maddox on Tuesday, June 1. He has been charged with attempted murder and is currently in the Chilton County Jail without bond.

The victim, 27-year-old Jermaine Agee, was shot four times Saturday, May 29 night around 9:30 p.m. outside on the 1100th block of Fourth Avenue South, according to Police Chief Brian Stilwell. He was airlifted to a Birmingham hospital in critical condition. He has since improved and is now listed in serious condition, according to Stilwell.

No one else was injured and police don’t expect any further arrests, according to authorities.
