Billy Lawrence Mims, 72, of Jemison died Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at his residence.

He was born on Monday, January 3, 1938, in Chilton County, son of the late C.A. Mims and the late Lorene Coggins Mims.

He was a truck driver.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Dorothy Mims of Jemison; son, Gerald (Kattie) Mims of Jemison; daughter, Gay Hale of Wetumpka; granddaughter, Erin (David) Chandler of McCalla; grandsons, Zackery Hale and Kory Mims of Jemison; and nine siblings.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Grant Allen Mims and three siblings.

Friends will be received from 1-2 p.m., Thursday, May 27, at Mars Hill Baptist Church. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 27, at Mars Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Evie Megginson and the Rev. Terry Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Mars Hill Baptist Cemetery in Jemison.
