The White Tigers bested the Blue Tigers 20-6 in the inaugural Chilton County High School Football Alumni Game Saturday night. But after the game, it didn’t matter what color jersey anyone was wearing.

“We’re all Tigers out here,” said alumnus Matt Maddox, after all the players knelt and prayed together. “We all bled right here on this field.”

Maddox, a member of the CCHS Class of 1999, helped organize the event along with football coach Brian Carter and Matt Krallman. He thanked everyone who participated in or assisted with the game.

2004 graduate Adam Marcus said he enjoyed getting on the field with both former classmates and other alumni who shared the same experience.

“It’s good to have the camaraderie. It’s just good, clean fun,” Marcus said.

Playing for the Blue Tigers was Mark Knight, a 1984 graduate who coached at CCHS from 1993-97.

“I coached probably 90 percent of these guys,” Knight said. “I enjoy getting back and seeing them all again. A lot of them can still play.”

And play they did. Blue Tiger quarterback Deon Timmons connected with Adam Easterling for the first touchdown in the second quarter.

On the following drive, Chris Ford answered for the White team with a short play into the end zone.

It was Ronnie Richardson who scored the deciding touchdown in the third, bringing the score to 12-6. Almost immediately, Ty Jackson returned an interception all the way and the White Tigers capped it off with a 2-point conversion.

The alumni game is intended to be an annual event.
