Maplesville won big in Game 2 of their area softball tournament, beating out Holy Spirit 13-1 in five innings.

Verbena lost to Holy Spirit 2-1 in Game 1 of the tournament, which lasted a full nine innings. The tournament is being played at Maplesville.

Courtney Killingsworth was the winning pitcher for Maplesville. She also went three for three at the plate, and Morgan Little was two for three.

Luckily, it didn’t rain until the last inning.

“They were very aggressive at the plate. They hit the ball when they needed to and also played well defensively,” said coach Ashlie Harrison.

The tournament continues Saturday as Verbena faces Holy Spirit again at 9 a.m. The winner of that game will play Maplesville at 11 a.m. If a third game is necessary, it will be played at 1 p.m.
