Humane society launches Web site

Although you could access it two weeks ago, the Chilton County Humane Society announced on Thursday the launching of its brand new Web site.

At www.chiltoncountyhumanesociety.org, the organization provides contact information, adoption procedures, a photo gallery and a link to their adoptable pets at Petfinder.

Director Joe Murphy said he wanted to produce a Web site sooner than they did, but he’s happy they finally launched it. He said it’s been on the agenda for a while now.

“The site makes us more accessible to the community,” Murphy said.

“Before, we only had a small Petfinder page with contact information. It’s going to help us reach a wider audience. All it will do is help. It’s just part of the growth here.”

Rhonda Parker, a communications professor at Samford University, recommended to Murphy a student who could help build the site before handing webmaster duties over to Chris Driggers.

While some basic information can be found at the site, Murphy said it is still under construction.

He said the site will feature an instructional page for a low-cost spay/neuter program. They hope to also add a “wishlist” page as well as a listing for upcoming events at the Humane Society.

To spread the word, Murphy sent out a message to his extensive e-news mailing list.
